IF YOU TURN, YOU CAN SEE ME

2021

Photography Series by Victoria Pham

Solo Exhibition, Gallerie V (Cambridge)

May - June 2021.

In February 2018, a team of archaeologists from Australia, Germany and Sri Lanka travelled to the Jaffna Peninsula to begin one-month long expedition. I was an undergraduate student in archaeology and was assigned be the site photographer and technical illustrator for the team. This selection of ten photographs tells the story of the people of the Jaffna District, Kantarodai Village and Delft Island in Northern Sri Lanka, the cultural exchange and experiences of researchers, and the reality of a post-war landscape. The greatest thanks to Dr Barbara Helwing who has supported this exhibition from its inception and who was the expedition director for the Kantarodai Expedition of 2018.
